June – Zoe's Ark

Our beautiful June bug came into our rescue back in April 2025 with her two babies after neighbours realized she had been kicked out of her home heavily pregnant. They went to speak with her original owner however the denied any knowledge of June. Though the neighbours knew they had been met with lies, they cared more about June, her safety and making sure the kittens she was carrying were also going to be ok. They took her in and planned to help her themselves.

June gave birth to two beautiful baby girls and it was an easy and successful birth for her, to the relief of everyone considering the stress she must have endured prior. The plan now was to keep an eye on everything and make sure she had all she needed. In this time the couple helping her ended up completely falling in love with her and her two babies and decided they were going to keep them all.

A couple weeks in, their granddaughter was due to visit and they were so excited to show her June and her babies. However this plan suddenly fell short when she started to have a reaction to the cats. It was in this moment they realised that she quite clearly was allergic to cats. Knowing this was now not going to work as much as it broke the couples heart they knew in the best interest of everyone June & her babies needed somewhere safe and secure to go.

This couple were from Leeds and searched high and low for a rescue space all over the country. They eventually found us and it was arrange for them all to come here.

Once June arrived, she couldn't have actually come at a better time. In the couple days prior to her coming we had taken in a tiny kitten found stuck in a wall with no mummy. It was clear when we put him near her kittens he must have been of a similar age, she took him on immediately in her kind, caring & wonderful nature she showed and helped us save his life as there really is nothing better then mothers milk.

June was an absolute pleasure from the moment she came to the day she left to look after, she was a sweet, kind, caring little girl and it was beautiful to see how she still trusted with all her heart after the people she loved had chucked her out like she was nothing. Our hearts completely broke for her.

Unsurprisingly it wasn't long at all until June was snapped up and in June she was adopted by a lovely lady and off she went to start the happy ever after she truly deserved.

1 month later:

Penelope is eating well and looking well. She talks to me all the time, running beside me as I get her food, mewing all the time. We had some teething problems in that she is a scratcher, and tried my suite, as well as carpets and scratched to wake me up in the night to get food. I've got the suite covered up but she discovered the back was not covered. Not posdible. Also she had a go at me a couple of times, Zoe suggested putting the scratch post in near the suite, she now uses that although I still keep an eye on her, she sometimes prowls with intent. Zoe has been very helpful and we decided to let her out after 4 weeks, she was cackling at the birds, etc. thought it might burn off some energy so she did not scratch, etc. just started that so watch this space. She is enjoying being outside, although I've only let her out when I'm around, will advance slowly to see how she goes if I'm not there . I've also got her playing with a little soft ball, she loves playing with me and will play on her own sometimes. Xxx

3 months in:

Another couple months have gone past. Can't believe it. Penelope is doing well, loving the outdoor life,especially with this weather. She's in and out all day, bringing me presents, little voles.🤣. She was due her flea treatment so as she lays out on my knee on an evening, that is if she doesn't get to my seat first, I just got everything ready and when she was relaxed just put it on. She was fine. Phew. She's actually found she can get over the fence at the side of the house onto the front. Spotted her a couple of times on the drive. Then the other day she disappeared for a while, then I saw her coming down the drive looking very relieved to be home. She was shattered. Must have ventured further. Xxx😘’

6 month update:

She's doing fine, really enjoying the outdoor life. It appears she is scared of dogs. I think she just wanders around the field keeping close to the hedge. And goes up my drive at the front of the house, up into a house that is empty, into the house in between then back to me. The neighbour in the house in between keep me up to date. She is sat on the window ledge in the sun at the moment. She's discovered radiators. She can sit on the one in my bedroom but can't quite make the one in the lounge, caught her sitting with her bum on the ledge and her front on the radiator. 😂

9 month update:

She's really enjoying her time here. Mind she is not keen on wet windy weather. Stayed in quite a lot during the winter. Now out and about again. She goes about as if she owns everything. The neighbours watch her. She made me laugh yesterday. It was absolutely tipping it down so I went to the door, she shot in so fast she skidded across the floor, her and the floor were soaked🤣
